%X Este art¨ªculo explora la relaci¨®n entre las normas internacionales y el inter¨¦s nacional a trav¨¦s de un an¨¢lisis de estudios de caso, que nos proporciona una perspectiva hist¨®rica del concepto de soberan¨ªa. El an¨¢lisis es enfocado hacia cuatro intervenciones militares llevadas a cabo por Estados Unidos y la Uni¨®n Sovi¨¦tica durante la Guerra Fr¨ªa ¡ªcuando el r¨¦gimen de soberan¨ªa consideraba este tipo de intervenciones ilegales e injustificables, salvo en casos de autodefensa o de seguridad colectiva¡ª. Cada caso eval¨²a hasta qu¨¦ punto las normas internacionales de soberan¨ªa restringieron la acci¨®n militar, examinando tanto las t¨¢cticas utilizadas, como las justificaciones ofrecidas para la intervenci¨®n. El art¨ªculo concluye que ninguna de las dos superpotencias evit¨® interpretar las normas seg¨²n sus propias nociones del inter¨¦s nacional, produciendo en consecuencia la aparici¨®n de m¨²ltiples facetas del concepto de soberan¨ªa en cada estudio de caso. This article explores the relationship between international norms and national interest by analyzing it through case studies that provide a historical perspective on the concept of sovereignty. The analysis is focused on four military interventions carried out by the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War ¡ªwhen the sovereignty regime in place rendered such interventions both illegal and unjustified, save for cases of self-defense or collective security. Each case study evaluates the extent to which international norms on sovereignty served as constraints for the military action, by examining both the tactics used and the justifications offered for the intervention. The article concludes that both Cold War superpowers did not shy from slanting international norms in order to fit their notions of national interest, with multiple facets of the concept of sovereignty emerging from each case study.
