%X A democratiza  o da Pol¨®nia comunista come ou com o aparecimento do Solidariedade em 1980. A d¨¦cada seguinte testemunhou uma luta pac¨ªfica do Solidariedade pelo direito de representa  o. O desejo de Gorbachev para p r fim ¨¤ Guerra Fria foi crucial, mas a sua atitude para com os pa¨ªses da Europa de Leste definia-se pela n o inger¨ºncia. Um dos fatores decisivos foi a pol¨ªtica de  autolimita  o  do Solidariedade. O objetivo n o era derrubar o sistema mas liberaliz¨¢-lo. O modelo polaco de democratiza  o gradual serve como modelo para outros pa¨ªses no Bloco Sovi¨¦tico. The movement for democracy in communist Poland became widespread with the appearance of Solidarity in 1980. The next decade in Poland witnessed Solidarity¡¯s peaceful fight for the right to representation. The Mikhail Gorbachev¡®s will to end the Cold War was crucial, but his attitude to Eastern European countries can be described as the non-interference rule. One of the decisive factors was the ¡°self-limiting¡± policy of the Solidarity. The aim was not to overthrow the system, but to liberalize it. The Polish model of a gradual evolutionary democratization serves as a model for other countries in the Soviet Bloc.
