%X las guerras de Independencia establecieron en toda Hispanoam¨¦rica una alianza estrat¨¦gica -m¨¢s simb¨®lica que social o militar- entre insurgentes criollos y pueblos ind¨ªgenas, cuya finalidad habr¨ªa sido legitimar la contienda b¨¦lica contra Espa a. A mediados de siglo, cuando comenzaron a dise arse los proyectos estatales de expansi¨®n y ocupaci¨®n territorial, las poblaciones ind¨ªgenas volvieron a ocupar un lugar en el imaginario criollo; esta vez, sin embargo, no como sujetos pol¨ªticos de una posible coalici¨®n sino a trav¨¦s del patrimonio cultural de sus lenguas primitivas. Este trabajo se propone indagar la construcci¨®n letrada de tales patrimonios atendiendo a una serie de textos que, vinculando romanticismo y cientificismo, formularon en Sudam¨¦rica el sentido de semejante exploraci¨®n. The Independence Wars established a strategic alliance in all ¡§Hispanoam¨¦rica ¡§ -more symbolic than social or military- between Creole insurgents and indigenous peoples, which purpose would be to legitimize the warlike conflict against Spain. In the middle of the century, when the State-Nation projects began to be designed for expansion and territorial occupation, the indigenous populations were reconsidered by the Creole imaginary; this time; however, not as political subjects of a potential coalition but as heirs of a highly respected linguistic code. This work proposes to investigate the literate construction of such heritages in a series of texts that, by combining Romanticism and Scientism, shaped the aim of such exploration in South-America.
