%X El estudio se realiz車 en cinco municipios del altiplano del oriente antioque o (La Ceja, El Retiro, Guarne, Rionegro, y El Carmen de Viboral, adem芍s del municipio de Envigado vereda Pantanillo y el corregimiento de Santa Elena de la ciudad de Medell赤n), los cuales se encuentran localizados en el extremo norte de la cordillera central de Los Andes colombianos. El estudio consisti車 en seleccionar, dentro de algunas 芍reas boscosas, especies de hierbas y arbustos con follaje, flores o frutos llamativos que por su belleza presentaran alto potencial ornamental. Con esta finalidad se seleccionaron 26 especies de las cuales se recolectaron semillas, esquejes y estacas para proceder a determinar protocolos de reproducci車n sexual y vegetativa, determin芍ndose las exigencias ecol車gicas, protocolos y potencialidades de 11 especies de plantas y arbustos como: Besleria sp., Cleome speciosa, Columnea sp., Gaultheria erecta, entre otras, las cuales presentaron caracter赤sticas ornamentales deseables que se espera sean explotadas. This study was conducted in five towns in the high plains of eastern Antioquia (La Ceja, El Retiro, Guarne, Rionegro, and Carmen de Viboral, as well as the Pantanillo neighborhood of the Envigado municipality and the Santa Elena township of Medellin), which are located in the northern limit of the central mountain range of the Andes (Colombia). The study consisted of selecting within forested areas species of herbs and shrubs with attractive leaves, flowers or fruits that might have high ornamental potential for their beauty. To this end, were selected 26 species for which seeds, cuttings, and stakes were collected to begin determining protocols for sexual and vegetative propagation, eventually determining the ecological requirements, protocols, and potentials for 11 species of plants and shrubs, such as: Besleria sp., Cleome speciosa, Columnea sp., Gaultheria erecta, among others, which presented desirable ornamental characteristic that hopefully will be exploited.
