%0 Journal Article %T Fin Fish Diversity in Kali Estuarine Ecosystem of Karwar, Karnataka %A S V Roopa %A J L Rathod %A B Vasanth kumar %J World Journal of Science and Technology %D 2011 %I %X A study was undertaken to access the status of available fin fishes in one of the important mangrove ecosystem of Karnataka. During the present investigation 37 types of fin fish species representing 20 families were observed. The study was carried out from January 2008 to January 2009 for about 13months. Five stations were selected to know the fish availability which represented river mouth to upper stretches of the river. During the course of observation highest number of Etroplus suratensis (181 No/m3), Ambassis gymnocephalus (164 No/m3), Arius arius (140 No/m3), followed by Gerres poieti(123 No/m3) and Ambasis commersoni (96 No/m3).
