%X El siguiente manuscrito presenta un resumen de la sesi車n denominada "Evidencia Paleo-Clim芍tica y Glaciol車gica del Cambio Clim芍tico regional", la que fue moderada por el Dr.- Ing. Carlos C芍rdenas de la Universidad de Magallanes, asociado al Centro de Estudios del Cuaternario y el Dr. Stefan Kraus del Instituto Ant芍rtico Chileno. En primer lugar, los moderadores realizaron una breve presentaci車n del estado del arte de la tem芍tica para posteriormente presentar a los oradores de la sesi車n, los cuales fueron: El Dr. Patricio Moreno con su presentaci車n denominada "Respuesta de la biota patag車nica y el sistema glacial a cambios paleoclim芍ticos ocurridos desde el 迆ltimo m芍ximo glacial", el Dr. Andr谷s Rivera con su presentaci車n "Cambios glaciares recientes en el sur de Chile y la Pen赤nsula Ant芍rtica", y el Dr. Jefferson Simoes con su presentaci車n "Variabilidad Clim芍tica en la Ant芍rtica Mar赤tima: Explorando las relaciones con el sub-tr車pico". Finalmente se realiz車 una mesa redonda donde se debatieron preguntas y se establecieron algunos precedentes. En general, la sesi車n mostr車 una introducci車n al clima del pasado y el presente en la regi車n junto a su historia glaciar, dando una idea del significado del avance y/o retroceso de los glaciares, los cambios de nivel de los lagos y la migraci車n de la vegetaci車n y otras especies. The following article presents a summary of the session on "Paleoclimatic and Glaciological Evidence of Regional Climate Change", which was chaired by Dr.-Ing. Carlos C芍rdenas from the Universidad de Magallanes (associated to the Quaternary Research Center, CEQUA), and Dr. Stefan Kraus from the Chilean Antarctic Institute (INACH). The chairmen frst gave a brief presentation on the state of the art of the topic, then giving the word to the invited session speakers: Dr. Patricio Moreno with his presentation titled "Response of Patagonian biota and glacial systems to the paleoclimatic changes since Last Glacial Maximum", Dr. Andr谷s Rivera with his presentation "Recent glacier changes in Southern Chile and in the Antarctic Peninsula", and Dr. Jefferson Simoes with his presentation "Climatic variability in the maritime Antarctic: exploring links with the subtropics". Finally, a round table was held where questions around the session topic were discussed. This session was targeted towards an introduction to past and present climate in the region including its glacial history giving also insight into the meaning of glacier advances and retreats, lake level changes and the migration of vegetation and other species.
