Au c ur de leur m¨¦tamorphose figure avant tout la priorit¨¦ accord¨¦e d¨¦sormais ¨¤ une conqu¨ºte socio-¨¦cono-mique promise ¨¤ tous les fid¨¨les. D¨¨s lors que ces derniers sont vou¨¦s, en th¨¦orie, ¨¤ un avenir prosp¨¨re, la pauvret¨¦ extr¨ºme de la majorit¨¦ d¡¯entre eux repr¨¦sente une rupture inacceptable avec leur destin. La cause de ce d¨¦voiement tient en un seul drame : le Diable. L¡¯influence maligne explique toute attitude de soumission ¨¤ la pauvret¨¦ ou ¨¤ d¡¯autres instances que Dieu. Dans ce contexte, les cultes afro-br¨¦siliens, en refusant de changer le monde et en se subordonnant ¨¤ la loi des anc¨ºtres, feraient profond¨¦ment obstacle ¨¤ l¡¯expansion de ¡°l¡¯ uvre¡±. Le salut repose donc enti¨¨rement sur cette guerre contre les d¨¦mons afro-br¨¦siliens qui vise ¨¤ ¡°lib¨¦rer¡± l¡¯individu de la tradition ancestrale, tourn¨¦e vers le pass¨¦, pour lui substituer un esprit de conqu¨ºte, tourn¨¦ vers le futur. Whether pentecostalist or ¡°neo¡±-pentecostalist, these evangelical Churches have undergone partial transformations. At the heart of their metamorphosis above all figures the priority henceforth granted to a socio-economic conquest that is promised to all the faithful. Whereas the latter are, in theory, slated for a prosperous future, the extreme poverty of most of them represents an unacceptable rupture with their destiny. There is just one drama causing them to be led astray : the Devil. His malignant influence explains every attitude of submission to poverty or to other authorities than God. In this context, the Afro-Brazilian cults, in refusing to change the world and in subordinating themselves to ancestral law, seem to form a basic obstacle to the expansion of the ¡°Lord's Work¡±. Salvation is thus entirely based on this war against Afro-Brazilian demons aimed at ¡°liberating¡± the individual from an ancestral tradition turned towards the past, replacing it for him with a spirit of conquest, turned towards the future. %U http://rsa.revues.org/425
