%X Z39.50 standard based systems technology offers many quite promising possibilities for the future: systems connectivity, retrieval of high structured information, redefinition of applications (as search engines, agents and so forth), integration within proprietary software, online or CD-ROM publishing systems, protocols... However, the situation nowadays is very little advantageous in order to develop Z39.50 based systems. This paper analyses the range of possibilities offered by the mentioned standard La tecnolog赤a de los sistemas basados en la norma Z39.50 ofrece numerosas posibilidades, a priori bastante prometedoras. Conectividad de sistemas, recuperaci車n de informaci車n muy estructurada, redefinici車n de aplicaciones (robots de b迆squeda, agentes...), integraci車n con sistemas propietarios, edici車n online y CD-ROM, protocolos... Sin embargo, en la actualidad se est芍 favoreciendo muy poco el desarrollo de sistemas basados en esta norma. En este art赤culo se analizan las diversas posibilidades que ofrece la misma.
