%X Esta investigaci車n identific車 las competencias en manejo de informaci車n (CMI) de un grupo de estudiantes universitarios con miras a mejorar los programas de formaci車n. Como referente te車rico y de an芍lisis se tom車 el est芍ndar propuesto por Association of College and Research Libraries. Para la recolecci車n de datos se utiliz車 un cuestionario constituido por tres partes, la primera da cuenta de la percepci車n de los estudiantes sobre sus CMI, la segunda plantea un ejercicio que requiere poner en pr芍ctica estas competencias y tiene como resultado la producci車n de un texto y la tercera es la reflexi車n de los estudiantes sobre su desempe o en el ejercicio. Los textos fueron parte de los datos de investigaci車n. Adicionalmente se realizaron entrevistas semi-estructuradas para profundizar en el proceso de manejo de informaci車n. Los hallazgos dan cuenta de que los participantes tienen bajo nivel de CMI, por lo que se proponen algunos lineamientos para intervenir con mayor fuerza en el fomento de estas competencias, que pueden ser considerados en otros contextos. This study identified the Information Management Competencies (CMI) of university students to enhance those skills in training programs. As a theoretical reference we took the standard proposed by the Association of College and Research Libraries. For data collection we used a questionnaire consisting of three parts. The first part is related to the perception of the students about their CMI, the second part has an exercise that requires to put into practice those skills and its result is a text production, and the third part is the reflection of the students on its performance in the exercise. The texts produced were part of the research data. In addition, semi-structured interviews were done to deepen in the process of information handling. Findings shows that participants have a low CMI level, so some guidelines to strengthen the promotion of that competency are provided and can be considered in other contexts.
