%X Indiscriminate use of formulae regarding water planning, withoutconsideration of the unique characteristics of a river, sometimes lead to an anomalous situation and up to some extent it provides ill-effects on the river regime. For a scientific and rational approach to different river problems, planning and design of water resources projects, an understanding of the morphological behaviour of the river is an essential pre-requisite. The most remarkable identity of Dwarekeswar River is that, it consists of transitional characteristics of flash floods it its upper catchment, monsoonal flood in the middle and tidal effect in its lower confluence simultaneously. This thrice combinations of flood situations of a small river makes the Dwarekeshwar as a unique and rare river type in plateau area.
