%X El presente art赤culo analiza los resultados del estudio Voluntarios y Ex Voluntarios: Perfiles de Participaci車n Ciudadana a Trav谷s del Voluntariado, realizado por Marta, Pozzi y Marzana (en este n迆mero), quienes proponen 4 perfiles de voluntarios: voluntarios en ejercicio, voluntarios por necesidades personales, ex voluntarios ciudadanos activos y ex voluntarios por oportunidad. La discusi車n se articula en base a los beneficios que tiene una aproximaci車n multidimensional desde la perspectiva del sujeto. Para ello se analizan sus aportes a la comprensi車n de tem芍ticas como el rol de las motivaciones en la participaci車n prosocial, los mecanismos que promueven este tipo de conductas y la diferenciaci車n entre causas y consecuencias de ella. Se discuten algunas ideas, como la importancia de la reelaboraci車n de las motivaciones, el posible rol mediador de estas en la relaci車n entre familia y participaci車n voluntaria y la importancia de considerar en futuros dise os la organizaci車n temporal que los propios j車venes dan a sus experiencias. Se mencionan, adem芍s, algunas limitaciones del estudio relacionadas con variables religiosas que pudieran explicar los resultados y con la dificultad de establecer si estos son espec赤ficos a esta forma de participaci車n. This article analyzes the results of the study Volunteers and Ex-Volunteers: Paths to Civic Engagement Through Volunteerism, by Marta, Pozzi, and Marzana (in this issue), who propose 4 types of volunteers: volunteers in action, volunteers for personal need, active citizens ex-volunteers and ex-volunteers by chance. The discussion builds upon the benefits of a multidimensional approach from the subject's perspective. To accomplish this, its contributions to the understanding of topics, such as the role of motivation in prosocial involvement, the mechanisms that promote this type of behavior, and the differentiation between causes and consequences of it, are analyzed. Some ideas are discussed, like the importance of the re-elaboration of motivations, their potential mediating role in the relationship between family and voluntary participation, and the importance of considering in future designs temporal organization that young people themselves give to their experiences. Also, some limitations of the study are identified. These are related to religious variables that could explain the results and to the difficulty of establishing whether these results are specific to this form of participation.
