%X A partir de 1407 con la muerte del Rey Enrique III el Doliente, su esposa la Reina Catalina de Lancaster se convertir¨¢, junto al Infante Fernando, en regentes del Rey- ni o Juan II de Castilla. A trav¨¦s de dicha Regencia, la reina madre desarrollar¨¢ una pol¨ªtica tendiente a asegurar el reino para su hijo, Juan II, tratando de generar v¨ªnculos con los linajes nobles "empoderados" del reino a fin de conservar la autoridad real y extenderla a su hijo, situaciones ¨¦stas no exentas de los conflictos propios del poder feudal y que los jug¨® Catalina en la pol¨ªtica del reino. Sin lugar a dudas, el rol y acciones emprendidas por la Reina fueron a nuestro criterio, muy importantes para la afirmaci¨®n del linaje reinante en tanto era ella la garante del v¨ªnculo leg¨ªtimo con los Alfonsos de Castilla, problemas ¨¦stos no demasiados abordados por la historiograf¨ªa cl¨¢sica. La historiograf¨ªa feminista ha aportado nuevos marcos interpretativos que nos permite rever el rol de las reinas medievales y que trataremos en esta presentaci¨®n. From 1407 to the death of King Henry III Mourning, his wife Queen Catherine of Lancaster will become, next to the Infante Fernando, in Regents of the Rey-child John II of Castile. Through this regency, the queen mother to develop a policy to secure the kingdom for his son, John II, trying to generate links with the noble lineages "empowered" the kingdom in order to preserve and extend royal authority to his son, These situations are not exempt from the typical conflicts of feudal power and that played Catherine in the politics of the kingdom. Clearly, the role and actions taken by the Queen were in our opinion, very important for the affirmation of the ruling lineage as she was the guardian to the genuine link with Alfonso de Castilla, they are not too many problems addressed by classical historiography. Feminist historiography has provided new interpretive framework that allows us to review the role of medieval queens and we will discuss in this presentation.
