%X The article delves on a text of 18th Century theatre, Jornada do Menino Deos para o Egypto [Journey of the Child God to Egypt], analysing its internal organisation, the interlacing of characters from different circles, the diversity of the dialogues¡¯ content, and the originality of its ending. It also contrasts the work with certain and possible forerunners, from the narrative of St. Matthew¡¯s Gospel, to the apocrypha and some autos sacramentales of Spanish theatre, and examples are given of the theme¡¯s interpretation in the Arts.
