%0 Journal Article %T The bildungsroman in the women's literature: a reading of A Sibila %A Ludmila Giovanna Ribeiro de Mello %J Via Litterae %D 2011 %I Universidade Estadual de Goi¨¢s %X This work has as aim to show what are the characteristics of a building romance that has a woman as protagonist, since throughout the history of Literature, formed by the male canon, this kind of narrative was only for the male personage, because only they were given the power to leave the "family home" in search of their self-discovery and development. First of all, this work will try to detach the original characteristics of the building romance, historically played by male characters, and present the reasons why, according to some critics, this role was denied to woman.
