%X Les zones p¨¦riurbaines sont un lieu d¡¯installation privil¨¦gi¨¦ des   jeunes m¨¦nages avec enfants   en provenance des p les urbains qui, tout en continuant de travailler en ville, souhaitent acc¨¦der ¨¤ la propri¨¦t¨¦ d¡¯une maison individuelle. En tenant compte de la socialisation r¨¦sidentielle, structur¨¦e par des normes, des repr¨¦sentations qui dessinent le champ des possibles en mati¨¨re r¨¦sidentielle dans un contexte socio-historique donn¨¦, des positions occup¨¦es dans les trajectoires conjugale, familiale et professionnelle au moment de l¡¯installation, l¡¯objectif de cet article est de montrer l¡¯enjeu, en termes d¡¯identit¨¦ sociale esp¨¦r¨¦e, du choix r¨¦sidentiel p¨¦riurbain qui intervient dans des configurations familiales vari¨¦es o¨´ les conjoints sont investis de mani¨¨re diff¨¦renci¨¦e dans les diff¨¦rentes sph¨¨res d¡¯activit¨¦s. Les attentes en termes d¡¯identit¨¦ r¨¦sidentielle qui d¨¦pendent des identit¨¦s attendues et re ues dans les autres sph¨¨res varient selon la position sociale, selon la pente de la trajectoire professionnelle, selon le genre. Quand les identit¨¦s professionnelles ne co ncident pas avec les identit¨¦s esp¨¦r¨¦es, que les chances de parvenir ¨¤ un ajustement sont faibles, l¡¯investissement dans la sph¨¨re r¨¦sidentielle est important. Suburban areas are privileged by the "young couples with children" from the urban poles which, while continuing to work in town, wish to be first-time buyer of a detached house. By taking into account of the residential socialization, structured by norms, representations which show the field of the possibilities in residential sphere in a given socio-historic context, positions had in the conjugal, family and professional trajectories when they arrive, the aim of this paper is to show the stake, in terms of expected social identity, the suburban residential choice which come up in varied family configurations where the husband and wife invest differently in the varied spheres of activity. The expectations in terms of residential identity which depend on identities expected and received in the other spheres vary, according to the social position, according to the career evolution, according to the gender. When the professional identities do not coincide with the expected identities, when the chances to reach an adjustment are slight, the investment in the residential sphere is significant.
