%X This article reflects some of the most famous texts (essays and stories) from the Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges, and arranges a dialogue between them and texts from other thinkers considered as great names of Literary Criticism in Latin America: Ricardo Piglia (from Argentina), Antonio Candido and Silviano Santiago (from Brazil), and Oct¨¢vio Paz (from Mexico). The goal is to highlight some of the most recurrent issues and how we have replied to these issues; is to draw a picture of what the Latin americans intellectuals think about the social and artistic function of literature in and for our continent.
