%X RESUMEN Objetivo: Determinar precozmente el sexo fetal a trav谷s de la evaluaci車n ecogr芍fica del tub谷rculo genital. Ambiente: Consulta prenatal en la Maternidad ※Concepci車n Palacios§. M谷todos: Estudio transversal y descriptivo, en 97 embarazadas cuya edad de gestaci車n se encontraba entre 10 y 13 semanas. Se realiz車 una evaluaci車n con ultrasonido transvaginal del tub谷rculo genital para detectar el sexo y se esper車 el parto para corroborar el sexo. Resultados: Se obtuvieron 80 (82,47 %) aciertos en la determinaci車n del sexo fetal, con 41 (83,67 %) aciertos para masculinos y 39 (81,25 %) para femeninos. Conclusi車n: El ultrasonido transvaginal entre las 10 y 13 semanas es 迆til para el diagn車stico del sexo fetal. Objective: To determine early the fetal sex through an ecography evaluation of the genital tubercle. Setting: Prenatal care unit at the Maternidad ※Concepcion Palacios§. Methods: Transversal and descriptive study in 97 pregnant women with approximately 10 to 13 weeks of gestation. An evaluation with a transvaginal ultrasound was preformed in the genital tubercle for sex determination. The results were corroborated after birth. Results: Sex was determined correctly in 80 cases (82.47%), with 41 correct determinations for males (83.67%) and 39 (81.25%) for females. Conclusion: The transvaginal ultrasound is a useful method for the diagnosis of fetal sex between 10 and 13 weeks of gestation.
