%X Guillain-Barr¨¦ Syndrome (GBS) is a type of acute polyneuropathy characterized by immune-mediated injury to the myelin sheath. The reported mortality rate varies between 2-5%, and 25% of patients require mechanical ventilation due to respiratory and bulbar muscle involvement. GBS can be diagnosed by clinical findings together with lumbar puncture and/or electrodiagnostic results. The first step in the management of patients with suspected GBS is an evaluation of respiratory function and protection of the airway. IV immunoglobulin and plasmapheresis have been used in the treatment of GBS. A case of GBS with typical history and physical findings supported by electrodiagnostic testing is described in this paper.
