%0 Journal Article %T Carbon nanotube plane fastener %A Kaori Hirahara %A Shoichi Ajioka %A Yoshikazu Nakayama %J AIP Advances %D 2011 %I AIP Publishing LLC %R 10.1063/1.3651085 %X We report a feature of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) that arises when the surfaces of two vertically-aligned CNT brushes are pressed together. Adhesion between the CNTs creates a plane fastener-like device. Observations from scanning electron microscopy and measurements of adhesion properties indicate a device-dependence on CNT density and shape near the tip region. Among other applications, such fasteners have the potential to attach small components onto micron-sized electronic devices. %U http://link.aip.org/link/doi/10.1063/1.3651085
