%X The analytical calculation of the mechanical losses in the central piston, the calculation of power losses to friction in the bearing crankshaft, pumping losses, losses on the drive units and auxiliary mechanisms are presented. The total power losses due to friction in an internal combustion engine of 2งน 9,5/11 diesel are estimated. The analysis of the factors affecting the frictional force in the central piston group is made. The possible variations of these factors, as well as possible ways of reducing power losses to overcome the friction forces are examined.
