%X O texto explora a crise dos m¨ªsseis sovi¨¦ticos em Cuba, de outubro de 1962, geralmente considerada como o acontecimento mais dram¨¢tico de toda a ¨¦poca da Guerra Fria. O trabalho de pesquisa utiliza documenta  o prim¨¢ria resgatada do Arquivo Hist¨®rico do Minist¨¦rio das Rela  es Exteriores do Brasil (AHMRE). Tamb¨¦m ¨¦ utilizada literatura especializada publicada no Brasil e no exterior. Particular interesse tem para os fins do artigo as iniciativas especificamente brasileiras no contexto da crise, principalmente as seguintes: (i) a desnucleariza  o da Am¨¦rica Latina, (ii) a mensagem de modera  o junto ¨¤s lideran as cubanas, (iii) o acompanhamento pol¨ªtico-diplom¨¢tico da crise nos foros hemisf¨¦rico (OEA) e global (ONU), e (iv) a eventual "finlandiza  o" de Cuba. The text explores the so called Cuban Missile Crisis, of October of 1962, generally considered as the most serious confrontation of the Cold War. The paper uses primary sources from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Archives. Also literature published in Brazil and the exterior is used. The Brazilian initiatives at the time are very important in this paper, particularly the followings: (i) denuclearization of Latin American continent, (ii) the call for moderation to Cuban leadership, (iii) the permanent preoccupation with the crisis evolution, and (iv) the possibility of a neutralization of Cuban revolutionary process inside the borders of that island.
