%X El an芍lisis de polimorfismo en la conformaci車n de cadenas sencillas (SSCP, por sus siglas en ingl谷s) se utiliz車 para caracterizar regiones del genoma de tres cepas de virus de encefalitis equina del este (VEEE), aisladas de cerebros de equinos muertos. Los segmentos de ARN fueron amplificados mediante la transcriptasa reversa acoplada a la reacci車n en cadena de la polimerasa (RT-PCR). Se analiz車 un fragmento de 542 pb de la regi車n 3＊no traducible del ARNm 26S y un fragmento de 532 pb del gen de la prote赤na no estructural P4 (nsP4), encontr芍ndose que la migraci車n de las cadenas sencillas de estos fragmentos de ADNc fueron diferentes en estos aislados virales, lo que indica que presentan polimorfismo gen谷tico en estas regiones del genoma, el cual es caracter赤stico de cepas de VEEE, variantes Sur Americanas. The single-strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) analysis was developed to characterize RNA segments of the genome in three strains of virus eastern equine encephalitis (EEEV), isolated from dead equine brains. The RNA segments were amplified by the reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The analyses of the 542 pb fragment from the 3＊ untranslated region of the 26S mRNA and the 532 pb fragment of the nonstructural P4 protein (nsP4) gene were performed. The results of the present investigation show that the migration of the single strands of the c-DNA fragments was different in these isolated viruses, which indicate genetic polymorphism in these genome regions, which is characteristic of EEEV strains from South American varieties.
