%X RESUMEN En 1932, las Juntas de Viviendas del Ayuntamiento de Bilbao patrocinaron el concurso de viviendas destinadas a obreros en el barrio de Solocoeche. Fue la primera y 迆ltima convocatoria a la que se present車 la federaci車n GATEPAC, representada por los grupos Centro 每Madrid-, Este 每GATCPAC, Barcelona-; y Norte,-San Sebasti芍n y Bilbao- dejando en evidencia sus contradicciones internas.La convocatoria de Solocoeche represent車 lo que fue el GATEPAC y el Movimiento Moderno en Espa a: un grupo disperso en su gesti車n y aproximativo en sus propuestas formales. Solocoeche fue un testimonio m芍s de la impericia del GATEPAC por constituirse como federaci車n. Desde la perspectiva formal, las propuestas presentadas por los equipos de Fernando Garc赤a Mercadal y An赤bal 芍lvarez, Jos谷 Manuel. Aizpur迆a y Joaqu赤n Labayen, y el GATCPAC evidenciaron que la agrupaci車n federal fue un grupo heterog谷neo, sin un posicionamiento com迆n de criterios ni una base ideol車gica firme. La urgencia por ser modernos les indujo a aplicar mecanismos de apropiaci車n y emulaci車n de lo ya ejecutado y propuesto en otras latitudes; incluyendo ciertas carencias en su reflexi車n. Evidentemente la cuesti車n de la vanguardia en Espa a pasaba por la interpretaci車n de lo ya visto, pero tambi谷n de lo ya aprendido, en Le Corbusier, Gropius o Rietveld.SUMMARY In 1932, the Housing Department of Bilbao Council sponsored the competition for workers＊ housing in the neighbourhood of Solocoeche. It was the first and last call to which a presentation was made by the GATEPAC Federation, which was represented by the following sections: Centre (Madrid); East (GATCPAC, Barcelona); and North (San Sebastian and Bilbao), making its internal contradictions clear.The Solocoeche call represented what GATEPAC and the Modern Movement were in Spain: a group with dispersed management and approximate in its formal proposals. Solocoeche was further testimony to the incompetence of constituting GATEPAC as a federation. From a formal perspective, the proposals submitted by the teams of Fernando Garc赤a Mercadal and An赤bal 芍lvarez, Jos谷 Manuel Aizpur迆a and Joaqu赤n Labayen and GATCPAC, demonstrated that the federal clustering was a heterogeneous group, without common positioning criteria or a firm ideological base. The rush to be modern induced them to apply mechanisms of appropriation and emulation that had already been implemented and proposed elsewhere, including a certain lack of thought.
