%X Art is a privileged way to express social representations, particularly the imaginary and affective dimensions. At the same time, art is the space where new social representations stem and transform themselves. In the modern context, it is inevitable to bind present with future, because to be modern is break with the past. Future, then, appears in the artistic creation. It stems attached to a approach to the industrailized, urban, reality, that is condensed in the representations of the cities. In this article, two relevant moments when future becomes a represented issue in art are analyzed: the first one was developed during the artistic vanguards in the early XX Century; and the second one is developing now, with the inclusion of three elements: tecnology, sustainability and cultural mundialization in art. El arte es medio privilegiado de expresi車n de representaciones sociales, en particular de sus dimensiones imaginarias y afectivas. A la vez, el arte es espacio transformador y generador de representaciones sociales novedosas. En el contexto moderno, es inevitable ligar el presente con el futuro, en la medida en que ser moderno es romper con el pasado. El futuro, entonces, aparece en la creaci車n art赤stica. Emerge ligado a una aproximaci車n a la realidad industrializada, urbana, que muchas veces se condensa en la representaci車n de las ciudades. En este art赤culo propongo que es importante analizar dos momentos de la historia reciente en los que el futuro es representado en el arte: el primero es el surgimiento de las vanguardias art赤sticas del siglo XX, y el segundo se est芍 desarrollando actualmente, a partir de la inclusi車n en el arte de tres elementos: la tecnolog赤a, la sustentabilidad, y la mundializaci車n cultural.
