%X Las viviendas del siglo XIX conjugaron caracter赤sticas materiales heredadas de la colonia como tambi谷n manifestaron los cambios culturales acontecidos por la revoluci車n de 1810 y el ingreso a la modernidad a finales del mismo siglo. Las casas fueron producto de las formas de vivir, en estrecha relaci車n a las costumbres, los recursos materiales y econ車micos disponibles, junto a los saberes t谷cnicos constructivos adquiridos hasta el momento. Las caracter赤sticas materiales resultantes de esta relaci車n de factores que se conjugaron en las viviendas manifestaron similitudes y diferencias tanto en Chile como en la en la regi車n de Cuyo en Argentina. En el presente trabajo nos proponemos efectuar un estudio hist車rico arquitect車nico sobre las caracter赤sticas materiales de las viviendas del siglo XIX de Santiago de Chile y la Regi車n de Cuyo Argentina en estrecha relaci車n a las formas de vivir los espacios y costumbres, con el fin de poder comprender su significado inmerso en un marco contextual de la 谷poca que abarca a los dos pa赤ses. The nineteenth century houses conjugated material properties inherited from the colony, and also expressed the cultural changes that occurred from the revolution of 1810, and the begining of the modern world at the end of the century. The houses were the product of the ways of living, closely related to the customs, the available material and financial resources, next to technical building knowledge acquired so far. The resulting material characteristics of this relationship of factors that combined in the home showed similarities and differences, both in Chile and in the region of Cuyo in Argentina. In this paper we propose to undertake an architectural history on the physical characteristics of the nineteenth century homes in Santiago de Chile and the Cuyo Region of Argentina in close relation to the lifestyles and customs, in order to understand its meaning immersed in a contextual framework for the period covering the two countries.
