%X Hacia fines del siglo XIX la Facultad de Derecho y Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad de Buenos Aires comenz車 a otorgar premios a algunas tesis doctorales presentadas para optar al t赤tulo de Doctor en Jurisprudencia, entre los que se encuentran los premios "Facultad", "Profesor Eduardo Prayones" y "Profesor Manuel Augusto Montes de Oca". El objeto del trabajo consiste en efectuar un estudio acerca de algunos aspectos de los referidos premios. A tal efecto, se comienza con su enumeraci車n, descripci車n, requisitos para solicitarlos, en qu谷 consistieron, pasos seguidos desde la recomendaci車n hasta el otorgamiento, temas de las tesis premiadas, autores premiados y fundamentos de cada otorgamiento, entre otros. A trav谷s de las tesis premiadas y de las circunstancias que rodearon su otorgamiento, se procura avanzar en el conocimiento de la vida universitaria y la ense anza del derecho en la Universidad de Buenos Aires y efectuar de esta forma un aporte al conocimiento de la cultura jur赤dica argentina de los dos 迆ltimos siglos. Se utiliza como fuente los libros de actas de defensa de tesis, Libro de Premios y Distinciones, ordenanzas, reglamentos, resoluciones, actas de la Comisi車n Directiva y publicaciones de la Facultad de Derecho y de la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Towards the end of the nineteenth century, the School of Law and Social Sciences of the University of buenos Aires started to grant awards to some doctoral theses submitted by those individuals interested in obtaining the degree of Doctor in Jurisprudence. Such Awards included, among others, the "Facultad", "Profesor Eduardo Prayones" and "Profesor Manuel Augusto Montes de Oca awards. The aim of this article is to study some of the aspects of the above-mentioned awards. To that effect, the analysis will first focus on an enumeration and description of the awards, the application requirements, characteristics of the awards, the steps to be followed from the recommendation up to the granting of the award, the subjects of the awarded theses and authors and the grounds for each award, among other issues. Through the awarded theses and the circumstances that surrounded their award, the aim is to provide a discussion of the knowledge of university life and the tuition of law at the University of Buenos Aires, as a contribution to the knowledge of the Argentinean legal culture of the past two centuries.
