Sobre la base de informaci¨®n documental, se discute c¨®mo los ind¨ªgenas articulan localmente la participaci¨®n pol¨ªtica y la administraci¨®n de la justicia al asumir cargos civiles (alcaldes, jueces de paz, entre otros), como miembros activos de una ciudadan¨ªa regional en permanente construcci¨®n. This article analyzes the participation of the Arica and Tarapac¨¢ indigenous people in the political and legal systems, at a community level, during the Peruvian Republic (19th century).
