%0 Journal Article %T Epidemiological and clinical characteristics of basal cell carcinoma in two health macroregions %A Liamara Denise Ubessi %A Eniva Miladi Fernandes Stumm %A Rosane Maria Kirchner %A Maristela Borin Busnello %A Arlete Regina Roman %J Revista de Enfermagem UFPE On Line %D 2010 %I Universidade Federal de Pernambuco %X Objective: to analyze the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) in users assisted at a Center of High Complexity in Oncology/CHCO, from macro-regional reference, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Method: this is a descriptive and documental study, transversal, from quantitative approach. Analysis period was from January 2003 to December 2008 with a spreadsheet created from the information of the enchiridion that it constitute in variable studied. The data were analysed using the descriptive statistic. The research project was approved by the Ethics in Research Uniju¨ª (protocol number 109/2009). Results: majority of users are male, of 50 to 80 years, 93% white, farmers, with increase in registration of cases in 2004, decreasing in years subsequent. The face was the localization principal. Recidivate, new lesions and keratosis were identified. In most situations the permanence in CHCO was one hour till one day. Treatment consisted of surgical excision, radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy.
