Methodology: this is about a descriptive study, kind reports of experiences. The study population was constituted by the multidisciplinary team (including trainees), inmates and their families in a psychiatric clinic in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Results: were identified as relevant experiences: Artistic Activities, academic experience, interaction with family of the psychiatric patient and drug addicted patients. The nursing should participate with more theoretical foundation and assiduity with the goal of bringing the experiences and raise questionings in the interest of better development for the client and for the growth of the professional. Conclusion: it was observed, during the training, the favoring of interdisciplinarity in theory and practice, always aiming the care of the client. The development of extra-curricular academic activity, in scenario of care practice focusing on the interdisciplinarity and on the consolidation of health as a social right, contributes expressively for the training of academic nursing in the mental health. %K patient care team %K mental health %K education professional. %U http://www.ufpe.br/revistaenfermagem/index.php/revista/article/view/1331/pdf_288
