The reasons why people are in disguise are to solve various problems by doing so and also not to be recognized by others. Being in disguise has an important function in K ro lu Legend as it is in tales and folk stories. In K ro lu Legends, disguise is adopted to get out of difficult situations, rescue captives or gather information etc. In the case of K ro lu¡¯s disguise, his K rat (the name of his horse) becomes a dervish¡¯s horse as his master does. In most of the variants of K ro lu Legends, K ro lu, his horse and his friends turn to disguise to get over troubles.In this paper, the disguise motives found in K ro lu Legend and its variants and their functions have been examined. K ro lu¡¯nda zor bir durumdan kurtulma, esir olan birinin kurtar lmas , bilgi toplamak i in k yafet de i tirilmesi vb. sebeplerle k yafet de i tirilir. K ro lu¡¯nun k yafet de i tirmesi halinde K rat da K ro lu gibi eklini de i tirip dervi at na d n¨¹ ¨¹r.
