%X Disseminated intravascular coagulation is a life threatening complication of severe postpartum hemorrhage. It results from washing out of all important procoagulants. A case of hemorrhagic shock following atonic postpartum hemorrhage is reported. She was treated by emergency obstetric hysterectomy and aggressive blood and blood component therapy.
