%X Este art赤culo revisa el contenido, los supuestos y las implicancias del principio de distribuci車n social del poder en la teor赤a general de la separaci車n de los poderes del Estado de Montesquieu. Contra una tradici車n que ha consagrado el principio de distribuci車n jur赤dica de las funciones ejecutiva, legislativa y judicial de esta teor赤a, denunciando al mismo tiempo el anacronismo del principio de distribuci車n social, sostengo, primero, que este principio es independiente del modelo estamental al que lo aplica Montesquieu; segundo, que la distribuci車n jur赤dica depende de la distribuci車n social para evitar el abuso del poder y salvaguardar la libertad de los ciudadanos; por 迆ltimo, que el principio de distribuci車n social remite a la dimensi車n propiamente pol赤tica de la teor赤a del poder de Montesquieu. This article reviews the content, assumptions and implications of the principle of the social distribution of power within Montesquieu's general theory of the separation of powers. In challenging a tradition that has been devoted to the principle of the juridical distribution of executive, legislative and judicial functions, and at the same time denouncing the anachronism of the principle of social distribution, Ifirst sustain that this principle is independent of the class model to which it is applied by Montesquieu. Secondly, I maintain that juridical distribution depends on social distribution in order to avoid the abuse of power and to safeguard public freedom. Finally, I hold that the principle of social distribution refers to the essentially political dimension of Montesquieu's theory of power.
