%X (E): In the books of Peter Downsbrough photography occupies a central place. Oscillating between documentation and art, the photographic image connects the space-time of the book with the reality of the depicted urban space. Taking Deleuze and Guattari¡¯s concept of the frame as a starting point, the article analyzes how Downsbrough relates the architecture of the book to the architectonic space of the city as well as to the narrative structure of film. As a significant element of the book, photography functions as an agent between the different medias, which the artist uses such as sculpture, book, film, and language. Oscillant entre document et art, relev¨¦ de l¡¯espace et s¨¦quence temporelle, elle fait le lien entre l¡¯exp¨¦rience spatio-temporelle du livre et la r¨¦alit¨¦ de l¡¯environnement urbain o¨´ l¡¯artiste puise ses motifs. Partant de la notion de cadre chez Deleuze et Guattari, l¡¯article analyse de quelle fa on Downsbrough met en relation l¡¯architecture du livre avec l¡¯espace architectural de la ville captur¨¦ dans les photographies et la structure narrative et temporelle du film. ¨¦l¨¦ment constitutif du livre, la photographie a la fonction d¡¯interm¨¦diaire entre les divers m¨¦diums que l¡¯artiste emploie tels que la sculpture, le livre, la photographie, le film et le langage.
