%X (E): What impact do contingencies have on protagonists in narrative film? Using examples from films by Eric Rohmer and Chantal Akerman, I consider this question from a metaphysical point of view in order to suggest how the perceived dichotomy between classical and modernist cinema is not as straightforward as it may at first appear.    (F): Quel est l'impact d'un ¨¦v¨¦nement contingent sur les personages d'un film narratif ?
