%X Este art赤culo, tras analizar la g谷nesis y el declive de los barrios "sensibles" con la concentraci車n de colectivos en dificultad social, estudia los fen車menos de segregaci車n y estigmatizaci車n de los barrios desfavorecidos en Francia, dado que actualmente estos barrios tienden a ser definidos como ghettos, constituyendo el problema sociopol赤tico central de la sociedad gala. La exclusi車n, las violencias urbanas, la delincuencia de los j車venes, la inseguridad, el repliegue comunitario y la presunta demisi車n de las familias alimentan el discurso medi芍tico y pol赤tico. M芍s all芍 de estas representaciones, es preciso detenerse en la estigmatizaci車n territorial y en las estrategias de evitaci車n social, dado que la mala fama de estos barrios conduce sus componentes a mantener unas actitudes ambivalentes y a replegarse en la esfera familiar. Todo ello no es incompatible con una fuerte sociabilidad y solidaridad y una organizaci車n de la vida comunitaria. This article, after analyzing the genesis and decline of disadvantaged neighbourhoods with social difficulties, studies the phenomena of segregation and stigmatisation of this kind of neighbourhoods in France. Nowadays, these neighbourhoods tend to be defined as ghettos, which have become the central socio-political problem of French society. The media and political speech are fed by their exclusion, urban violence, delinquency of young people, family submissiveness, insecurity and community fallback. Therefore, it becomes necessary to study the territorial stigmatisation and the strategies of social avoidance, provided that the bad reputation of these neighbourhoods leads their neighbours to have ambivalent attitudes and to withdraw in the family sphere. All this is not incompatible with a strong sociability, solidarity and organisation of community life.
