%X This article presents the results of an error analysis investigation carried out in Concepci車n, Chile, with a group of forty-eight native speakers of Spanish studying to become EFL teachers at Universidad San Sebasti芍n. All participants were first year students who had studied English tenses and aspects for a year. The objectives of this investigation were the identification of students' errors regarding the use of tenses and aspects in English, the design of a hierarchy of difficulty and the explanation of main errors. According to the results obtained, after a year of formal instruction, students still showed problems with the correct use of English tenses and aspects. The main problem was accurately matching tenses and aspects to different contexts. Findings provide useful information to design remedial programmes to help students become successful in the use of English tenses and aspects. Este art赤culo presenta los resultados de una investigaci車n basada en el an芍lisis de errores realizada en Concepci車n, Chile, con un grupo de cuarenta y ocho hablantes de espa ol que estudian Pedagog赤a en Ingl谷s en la Universidad San Sebasti芍n. Todos los participantes eran alumnos de primer a o que hab赤an estudiado tiempos verbales y aspectos del ingl谷s durante un a o. El trabajo tuvo como objetivos la identificaci車n de errores en relaci車n al uso de tiempos verbales y aspectos en ingl谷s; el dise o de una jerarqu赤a de dificultades y la explicaci車n de los principales errores. De acuerdo con los resultados, despu谷s de un a o, los alumnos presentan problemas con el uso correcto de los tiempos verbales y aspectos, siendo el uso de acuerdo al contexto el mayor problema. Los resultados de esta investigaci車n entregan informaci車n para el dise o de programas que ayuden a los alumnos a usar con 谷xito los tiempos y aspectos del ingl谷s.
