%X Rectal bleeding poses a problem for clinicians because although it is very common it can be a symptom of colorectal cancer. About 40% ofpatients with colorectal cancer have rectal bleeding, but the risk of colorectal cancer for a patient with rectal bleeding is thought to be relatively low.
