%X Discussions on the identity of H¨¹rriyet Newspaper brings about certain conceptions and ideological approaches. In general the identifier manners of approach widely bases on founding years of H¨¹rriyet which is founded by Sedat Simavi. This paper which aims to contribute to discussions in the contect of ¡®identity of H¨¹rriyet¡¯ mainly focuses on evaluations on its identity, by referring to early period of the journal and its short history. With this aspect the paper identifies H¨¹rriyet Newspaper as that can be secular in ideological and political preferences, westernizationist in the goal of life style and cultural orientation, and sometimes nationalist or sometimes globalist or simetimes from both group.
