%X The purpose of this article is to indicate the identity struggle of a profession, the endeavors in the journey from Association to Chamber, the steps taken within this context, the achievements in a short period of time, the organizational development of Istanbul Chamber of Certified Public Accountants (ISMMMO) between 1990 and 2009, the social function of the Chamber and its contributions to the profession in terms of information and science. The Information Access Center (IAC), established in 2006, serves not only in Istanbul but all over Turkey. IAC collects all books and periodicals in the field of accountancy published in Turkey and tracks certain foreign publications. It also continues to improve its services with the accountancy bibliography (books, articles), daily newsletter, index of "Mali   z¨¹m (Finance Solutions)" magazine, and through activies and studies in the Library Week. Bu yaz ¡¯n n amac  bir mesle in kimlik m¨¹cadelesini, dernekten odala ma yolunda harcanan emekleri, izlemi  oldu u yolu ve k sa zamanda nerelere geldi ini ve  stanbul Serbest Muhasebeci Mali M¨¹ avirler Odas  ( SMMMO)¡¯n n 1990 ¨C 2009 y llar  aras ndaki kurumsal geli imi, toplumsal i levi ve meslek alan na  zellikle bilgi ve bilimsellik a  s ndan katk lar n  belirlemek olacakt r. 2006¡¯da kurulma karar  al nan Bilgiye Eri im Merkezi (BEM) yaln z  stanbul¡¯a de il b¨¹t¨¹n T¨¹rkiye¡¯ye hizmet verir duruma gelmi tir. BEM T¨¹rkiye¡¯de yay mlanan muhasebecilik alan ndaki b¨¹t¨¹n kitap ve s¨¹reli yay nlar  toplay p, d¨¹zenleyerek hizmete haz r duruma getirirken belli ba l  yabanc  yay nlar  da izlemektedir. Muhasebecilik bibliyografyas  (kitap, makale), g¨¹nl¨¹k duyuru b¨¹lteni, Mali   z¨¹m dergisinin dizini, K¨¹t¨¹phane haftalar nda yapt    etkinlikler ve  al  malarla hizmetlerini geli tirmektedir.
