%X Migrates, wherever they have been settled, have always moved in order to set up groups somehow formalised, normally organised upon their ethnic or national origin. These groups always work to give a response to their needs. Thus, associations have become a basic element in the day-to-day life of immigrants. A basic element working two ways: On one hand, in the relationship between immigrates and the institutions of the receiving societies, considering that these groups act as representatives for political issues. On the other hand, in the relationship within the group itself, placing themselves, sometimes in a non-easy way, in a new settling context. In both levels, the associations act as a privileged way for social and cultural intermediaries. Associations arise as institutions based on identity reasons, members and non-members of the group can define them as religious, national, ethnical or cultural. But in these organisations, apart from identity, they create new spaces from which they work on migration contexts, music, dance, food or dressing habits, religious practices or use of languages become in identity references, in ways of expression of a community not just margined but also re-localised. Los migrantes han tendido a crear, all赤 donde se han instalado, grupos m芍s o menos formalizados, organizados generalmente seg迆n el origen nacional o 谷tnico, para dar respuesta a necesidades y anhelos diversos. En este sentido, las asociaciones se han constituido en un elemento clave en la articulaci車n de la vida cotidiana del colectivo inmigrante. Un elemento clave que act迆a a dos niveles: de un lado, en la relaci車n entre la poblaci車n inmigrante y las instituciones de la sociedad de recepci車n, en tanto que las asociaciones de inmigrantes se configuran como instancias de representaci車n e intermediaci車n pol赤tica; de otro, en las relaciones al interior del propio colectivo migrante que debe redefinir, a veces de manera conflictiva, su lugar social y sus relaciones intra grupo en el nuevo contexto de asentamiento. En uno y otro nivel, las asociaciones emergen como un espacio privilegiado para la mediaci車n social y cultural. En efecto, las asociaciones se constituyen en instancias para la re-creaci車n de la identidad, que los miembros del grupo (y los ajenos a 谷l) pueden definir como religiosa, nacional, 谷tnica o cultural; pero en estas organizaciones no s車lo se expresan las identidades sino que, en tanto que la identidad es un proceso de construcci車n social, las asociaciones generan nuevos espacios desde los que se negocian y articulan los sentidos de las ident
