%X The English constitutional evolution in the XIXth century was characterized by its enormous adjustment capacity to a changeable situation stimulated by the economic development, leading the State to progressively abandon the ※laisser faire§ and take on more socially active duties, recognizing the economical-political power held by the new emerging powers, and concurrently extending the right of suffrage; in this way a permanent system of adjustment was establish between the political order and the new interests of the most powerful groups. However the extension of the right of suffrage was neither associated with a redistribution of the wealth, nor with a radical change in the structures of political domination; it＊s the beginning of an evolution that, throughout the XIXth and the XXth century, will ultimately provoke the mutation in the conception of political representation. La evoluci車n constitucional inglesa en el siglo XIX se caracteriz車 por la enorme capacidad de adaptaci車n a una cambiante situaci車n impulsada por el desarrollo econ車mico, alteraci車n que llevar芍 progresivamente al Estado a abandonar el ＆laisser faire＊ para asumir papeles socialmente m芍s activos; reconociendo la fuerza econ車mica y pol赤tica de los nuevos poderes emergentes, a la vez que ampliaba progresivamente la base del sufragio. Se instaura as赤 un sistema de ajuste permanente entre el orden pol赤tico y los intereses de los grupos m芍s poderosos. Pero la extensi車n del derecho de sufragio ni est芍 asociada con una redistribuci車n de la riqueza, ni con un cambio radical en las estructuras de dominaci車n pol赤tica; es el comienzo de una transformaci車n que, a lo largo de los siglos XIX y XX, acabar芍 provocando la mutaci車n del concepto de representaci車n pol赤tica.
