%X Je me propose ici d¡¯examiner comment, dans son r¨¦cit de voyage en Ha ti, l¡¯¨¦crivaine ha tienne-am¨¦ricaine Edwidge Danticat per oit le carnavalesque et l¡¯int¨¨gre dans son discours afin de d¨¦peindre l¡¯espace g¨¦ographique, historique et culturel de son pays d¡¯origine et de porter par ailleurs un regard nouveau et ¨¦clairant sur soi. In my analysis of Edwidge Danticat¡¯s travelogue, I will explore the Haitian American writer¡¯s treatment of the carnivalesque in both her representation of her native land (its geography, history and culture) and her apprehension of a new self-image.
