%X O artigo pretende mostrar a distancia que separa a prociss o cat¨®lica popular da prociss o tradicional, segundo a vis o da Teologia da Liberta  o. Por um lado, a devo  o continua presente nos dois tipos. No entanto, os prop¨®sitos se diferenciam. No primeiro caso, busca-se um tipo de sacralidade presente apenas na imagem do santo. No segundo caso, o que importa ¨¦ outro tipo de sacralidade que, apesar de se parecer mais com o profano por conta das reivindica  es e protestos, se revela mais sagrada ainda, justamente por fornecer ao humano um car¨¢ter divino quando luta por seus direitos. / The article intends to show the distance that separates popular Catholic procession from the traditional Catholic one, according to Liberation Theology view. On the one hand, devotion remains present in both cases. However, the aims are different. In the first case, there¡¯s a search for a sort of sacrality only found on the image of the saint. In the second case, what matters is another kind of sacrality that, despite seeming more like the profane because of the claims and protests, reveals itself even more sacred, precisely for giving the human being a divine character when fighting for their rights.
