%0 Journal Article %T La asamblea de Extremadura y el control del principio de subsidiariedad a trav¨¦s del mecanismo de alerta temprana %A Jos¨¦ ¨¢ngel Camis¨®n Yag¨¹e %J Revista d'Estudis Auton¨°mics i Federals %D 2011 %I Institut d'Estudis Auton¨°mics %X This paper analyzes the participation of the Spanish regional Parliaments,specially the Assembly of Extremadura, in the early warning system for monitoringthe application of the principle of subsidiarity, in order to know ifthis participation helps to correct the democratic deficit and to improve theparticipation of the regions in the EU integration process. Trough the earlywarning system, the Member States Parliaments can examine if the draftEuropean legislative acts comply with the principle of subsidiarity. In theSpanish case, it has been regulated that regional Parliaments can contributeto the elaboration of the position of Spanish national Parliament ¨CCortesGenerales- about the monitoring of the principle of subsidiarity related todrafts European legislative acts. The participation of the Regional Parliamentsin the monitoring of the principle of subsidiarity is an important noveltyresultant of the Lisbon Treaty.
