%X El art赤culo presenta la historia de la devoci車n e imagen del Sagrado Coraz車n de Jes迆s, desde los primeros indicios de su construcci車n como imagen devocional hasta la consagraci車n de toda la humanidad a dicha devoci車n en el a o de 1899. El prop車sito de este recorrido hist車rico es entender la evoluci車n de los sentidos religiosos otorgados a una imagen devocional a lo largo del tiempo desde la 車ptica institucional; entender las sutilezas de esas transformaciones a lo largo de espacios de larga duraci車n, as赤 como las innovaciones que en el campo espiritual encuentra la instituci車n eclesi芍stica para reestructurar los usos y funciones de las im芍genes devocionales./ The article presents the history of the cult and image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, from the first signs of its construction as a devotional image until the consecration of all humanity to the devotion in 1899. The purpose of this historical survey is to understand the evolution of religious meanings given to a devotional image over time from the institutional perspective, to understand the subtleties of these changes over long-term spaces, as well as the innovations that in the spiritual realm the ecclesiastic institution finds to restructure the uses and functions of devotional images.
