Nessas publica es, intenta-se ressaltar as aproxima es do pensamento entre os dois autores na defesa de uma educa o voltada aos interesses do operariado, tornando-o uma classe consciente dos processos de domina o da sociedade capitalista e das possibilidades de supera o. Na den¨²ncia da monopoliza o do conhecimento sob interesses particulares, preconceituosos e excludentes, sejam religiosos ou na forma laica do Estado burgu¨ºs, a educa o defendida pelos autores visa conduzir o povo pela via da conscientiza o, autonomia e autogest o, necess¨¢rias a uma verdadeira democracia. Contra o treinamento, a obedi¨ºncia e a manipula o ideol¨®gica, os autores convergem na defesa de uma educa o no sentido da liberdade, da cr¨ªtica e da solidariedade. This paper seeks to understand the relationship between the thinking of Maur¨ªcio Tragtenberg and the ideals of the Modern School of Francisco Ferrer y Guardia in the early 20th century, based on the analysis of Tragtenberg¡¯s publications in the journal ¡°Educa o and Sociedade¡± (1978-2008). In these publications, emphasis is given to the approximations between the thoughts of the two authors in defense of an education focused on the interests of the working class, making it a class conscious of the domination processes of capitalist society as well as the possibilities of overcoming them. By denouncing the monopolization of knowledge by private, prejudiced and exclusionary interests ¨C whether religious or in the secular form of the bourgeois state ¨C the education advocated by the authors seeks to lead people through awareness, autonomy and self-management, all of which are necessary for a true democracy.
