%X A carved rock with geometric and/or abstract signs discovered at the Balma Guilany¨¤ site has made possible the analysis of the artistic patterns developed after the end of the Upper Palaeolithic in the Iberian Mediterranean region. Archaeo-stratigraphic, chronometric and chrono-cultural attributes link this finding to the Mesolithic, probably during the tenth millennium cal BP. Graphic analysis and the comparison with different kinds of representations from this same area allows the evaluation of the problematic that surrounds the characterization of West Mediterranean Mesolithic art. El hallazgo de un bloque grabado de grandes dimensiones en Balma Guilany¨¤, con motivos geom¨¦tricos y/o abstractos permite analizar la problem¨¢tica referida a las manifestaciones art¨ªsticas que se desarrollan con posterioridad al arte del Paleol¨ªtico Superior en la regi¨®n mediterr¨¢nea ib¨¦rica. En este art¨ªculo se presenta el contexto arqueoestratigr¨¢fico, cronom¨¦trico y cronocultural de esta manifestaci¨®n art¨ªstica, durante el X milenio cal BP. El an¨¢lisis de los motivos gr¨¢ficos y su comparaci¨®n con otras representaciones muebles y parietales de la vertiente mediterr¨¢nea ib¨¦rica permite evaluar la problem¨¢tica que rodea la caracterizaci¨®n del arte mesol¨ªtico en esta zona.
