%X RESUMEN:En la d¨¦cada de los 80 surge la denominada ¡°pr¨¢ctica basada en la evidencia¡± como paradigma alternativo a la actuaci¨®n cl¨ªnica basada exclusivamente en la opini¨®n, experiencia o tradici¨®n, ya que engloba a todas ¨¦stas, y promueve la toma de decisiones seg¨²n la mejor evidencia cient¨ªfica disponible. Desde entonces, surgen organizaciones sanitarias y acad¨¦micas, grupos de profesionales, publicaciones, bases de datos y cursos de formaci¨®n a nivel mundial destinados a divulgar, impulsar y aplicar la pr¨¢ctica cl¨ªnica basada en la evidencia. El objeto de este art¨ªculo es mostrar aquellas actitudes necesarias para la puesta en pr¨¢ctica de la evidencia desde el enfoque del terapeuta ocupacional. Tras una revisi¨®n bibliogr¨¢fica en PUBMED, CUIDEN y OTSeeker sobre evidencia y terapia ocupacional entre el periodo 1990 - 2005, se define y explica el proceso en que se basa la pr¨¢ctica de la evidencia cient¨ªfica y que beneficios profesionales se consiguen con su implementaci¨®n. La conclusi¨®n es que la pr¨¢ctica de la evidencia contribuye a la mejorar la actividad cl¨ªnica, docente, investigadora y gestora del terapeuta ocupacional.ABSTRACT:In the 80s, the so-called: ¡°Practice based on evidence¡± appears as an alternative paradigm to the clinical performance exclusively based on opinion, experience or tradition, given that it includes all of them, and promotes the decision-making according to the best scientific evidence available. Since then, sanitary and academic organizations, groups of professionals, publications, database and training courses all around the world have arisen with the purpose of spreading, promoting and applying the clinical practice based on evidence. This article is intended to show the attitudes necessary for the implementation of evidence from the approach of the occupational therapist. After a bibliographic review in PUBMED, CUIDEN and OTseeker about evidence and Occupational Therapy in the period between 1990-2005, the base-process for the practice of scientific evidence, together with the professional advantages that can be reached with its implementation, both elements are defined and explained. The conclusion is that the practice of evidence helps the Occupational Therapist to improve his/her activity in the clinical and educational field as well as in the research and management domain.
