%X Se describi車 la asociaci車n de absceso hep芍tico de posible etiolog赤a amebiana y el virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana, en un paciente cubano que labor車 en la rep迆blica de Etiop赤a. La importancia de este reporte radic車 en que, durante el tiempo transcurrido desde que se describi車 la infecci車n por VIH, m迆ltiples han sido las infecciones oportunistas reportadas, algunas capaces de dar lugar a la formaci車n de abscesos hep芍ticos, pero ninguna de estas infecciones es de etiolog赤a amebiana. Por otra parte, este paciente constituy車 el primer caso reportado de absceso hep芍tico de posible etiolog赤a amebiana, en toda la poblaci車n de pacientes VIH (+) estudiados en el Instituto de Medicina Tropical "Pedro Kour赤". The association of a liver abscess of possible amebic etiology with HIV in a Cuban patient that worked in the Republic of Ethiopia was described. This is important because during the time elapsed since the HIV was described, multiple opportunistic infections were reported, some of them capable of giving rise to the formation of liver abscesses, but none of them with an amebic etiology. In addition, this patient was the first case of liver abscess of possible amebic etiology reported in the whole population of HIV (+) patients studied at "Pedro Kouri" Institute of Tropical Medicine.
