%X Slovene general upper secondary schools are modernizing their curriculaand implementing innovative educational approaches with theaim of improving efficiency and quality. Research has shown that leadershipis an important factor in modernization and the implementationof innovative approaches. The aims of the article are, firstly, to presentthe general characteristics of school leadership and the implementationof innovations, and secondly, to discuss the findings of the April¨CMay 2011 quantitative survey conducted in selected secondary schools.
